The Monday of May 28th, 2018, marked the first day I would start working at ZIRUI. This Monday also happened to be Memorial Day Weekend for those of you that didn’t know. When I first found out that I would be starting on that day I was quite confused, since mostly everyone had that day off. I didn't mind though because getting into the city wouldn’t be as hectic for my first big day. My morning started at 6 a.m. Got up, took a shower, brushed my teeth, and did all the other essential pieces that girls do to put themselves together in the morning. As I drove in, a million thoughts went through my head. What was the team going to be like? Would they like me? Would I be able to figure out the subway, was a big question whirling in my head. Another thought was all the different experiences I would encounter, and what I would learn and take away each day. It was that first day of school feeling all over again, nervous but excited. I'd always wanted to work in the city, and I was finally going to be able to do so. I was thrilled to start this journey.
As I arrived, Bean Town was pretty quiet (thank god). I even got a spot right in front of the office, so things were going well already. Regina (my boss) greeted me downstairs, where I also met Machias, who was another team member in the foyer. Sean, another team member arrived shortly after, and we went upstairs to have our first official team meeting. There we got to know each other a little, where we were from, how old we were, what sports team we root for, which to my surprise, Sean and Machias aren't Boston sports fan, which is just wrong, but I looked past this since I will be collaborating with them for the next three months or more. Sorry guys. We talked about our different roles, and what exactly each one of us would be doing. Yes, we were a small team, but we were capable of achieving many things together. 12 o’clock hit very fast, and it was now time for a cute team lunch outing. We chose to go to Shake Shack on Newbury Street. If you haven't been before I suggest going! We got to know each other pretty well at lunch, joking and relating to things we like and dislike. After Shake Shack, we headed back to the office, and got to work! The day flew by very quickly, and before you knew it, it was already five! The first day was done, and overall a very successful day! I was looking forward to the rest of the week, and the rest of the summer with ZIRUI and the ZIRUI team! There is so much more to come and I couldn't wait to get started!
